How to use the chroma key remover

Remove a color, keep the details
Chroma key removal is useful when the subject and background have distinct colors. This tool compares each pixel with your chosen key color and makes matching pixels transparent. Threshold controls the range of colors removed; smoothing creates a gradual transparency transition at the boundary. Existing transparency is preserved.
For a clean result, start with an evenly lit background and choose a key color away from shadows. Increase the threshold gradually. Hair, glass and fabric may need careful adjustment, and a subject wearing the same color as the screen will also be affected.

What is a chroma key remover?
A chroma key remover makes pixels transparent based on their color. Pick the background color and set how closely other pixels must match it. It works best with evenly lit green screens, blue screens and other solid backgrounds.
How do I remove a green screen from a PNG?
Upload your PNG, click a green area in the original image, then adjust Threshold until the background disappears. Add a little edge smoothing and download the result as a transparent PNG.
Can I remove a blue screen or a custom background color?
Yes. Choose the Blue preset, use the color picker or click any visible pixel in the input image. The same threshold and smoothing controls work with any chosen color.
Is this chroma key remover free?
Yes. You can process and download images without signing up or adding a watermark. There is no daily image quota. Each input must be no larger than 20 MB, 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side.
Which image formats are supported?
Upload PNG, JPG or WebP. The output is always PNG so the removed background can stay transparent. The image keeps its original pixel dimensions, and existing transparent areas remain transparent.
Why is part of my subject disappearing?
Chroma keying affects every pixel close to the selected color, including matching colors inside your subject. Lower the threshold, sample a more representative background pixel or use a source with better color separation. It does not recognize people or objects.
How can I reduce green outlines?
Try a small amount of edge smoothing, then increase Color spill reduction. Inspect the result against the dark and white preview backgrounds. Too much threshold can erase details, so adjust in small steps.
Are my images uploaded, and can I use this for video?
Image decoding, color removal and PNG export run locally in your browser; the tool does not upload your image. It processes still images, not video files. You can use the exported PNG as an overlay in a video editor.
